SLA - August 8, 2026 Board Meeting

Meeting Place:  Sugar Lake Lodge

In attendance: Paul Mullaney, Tom Huettner,  Don Evens, Linda Lonson, Roger Laska, Lynn Erickson, guest Karinn Schultz.

1) Call to Order

2) Announcements, General Discussions & Correspondence:

The lake association gets notified by the county when any work is being done outside on the lakeshore.  Oeltjenbrune’s  SLA attempts to attend any variance hearings.  The resident did cut more tress down than originally permitted.  The County required additional trees to be replanted.   There is concern that a bluff was removed.  The Board agreed that a board member should ask the County if the County will make a confirming visiting during or after construction.  The Board should also know what the process is to complain to the County.  

We have three AirBNB’s on the lake.  The board has approached the property owners and remind them of the lake rules.  The County has proposed short-term rental regulations in the past but have tabled the discussion for over two years.   Tom will check in with the County to see if there is any intended progress to be made on proposed regulations.   

3) Secretary's Report/Prior Meeting Minutes Affirmation: 

Vote: July SLA Board meeting minutes were approved. 

  

4) Treasurer's Report  

    1. Financial update   $108,208.23 total funds.  A $2,000 donation was received for SLA.   $14,208 sits in cash.   Two CD’s 12k will be increased to $15,000  10/23 16k   $1,285 in future expenses are pending mostly for water testing and website costs.  The AIS fund now sits at $79,680.79

    2. Vote: To approved invoice for SLA new mail system 

    3. Vote: Approved payment of Minnesota Lakes and Rivers invoice of $185.00

    4. Vote: Approved payment of Communications MailerLite bill for mailings and design for our newsletter. $129.60 subject to confirmation that further discounts are not available.
